Advertisements impact on Society

My research has informed me on many new methods and perspectives on advertisements. I have read about how "women" effect advertisements in a seductive and sexual ways to how health advertisements differ from the rest. There many methods including the use of credibility, information, entertainment, irritation and positive or negative images. Most of the information I have been provided with consist of having usually the positive be a positive and happy outcome and the negative being a bad and irritated outcome. Advertisements that  use sexy women get more attentions and more consumers. However, these types of advertisements effect women physically and emotionally.  These advertisements set standards to be almost impossible for every women to reach. This causes society to make up specific women to be seen as beautiful.  On the other hand, it is the same for men. This effects young adults in way that makes them strive to reach this ultimate goal to be seen exactly the same as the people in the commercials.
Some advertisements aren't trying just trying to sell their product using a method of beautiful women and men . Some advertisements use inspiration. The message given is positive and the impact that is made is also positive. It creates hope to fulfill a dream or a goal. This commercials seem to be as effective as the ones that use the method of achieving the American dream or being the perfect man or woman. These commercials gives the audience a boost in their confidence to get up and chase their dreams.
Other advertisements, such as health ones, use a negative picture to get more people to do what they want. By providing a nasty image of a disease or an illness and giving examples of how it can prevented, it is most likely to get people to listen. If the health industry just used positive images the impact wouldn't be as strong because reality might not hit as quickly.
My original question was how advertisements effect young adults and now I might analyze how do different advertising methods effect young adults? I will organize my essay on having different methods and provide examples and evidence of its effectiveness.

Adversting and Popular Culture

My topic is advertising and the impact it has on popular culture.  My research question is: How do magazines and commercial ads on television manipulate/impact young men and women? I don't know what word to use before young men and women yet.  I am not sure what I want the impact to be specifically yet, but with further research I am getting more ideas. I would like to talk about how these advertisements grasp the attention of these young adults. What has popular culture made people think they need and want? I have the article Men's Men and Women's Women, which describes different ways advertisements, appeal to people. I plan to analyze more about how advertisements use the American Dream, Sexy women, Hot me, etc. to make profit. I can also integrate some of the history of advertisements. Analyze methods that have changed or even stayed the same.

At the moment, I do not have enough information to answer my question completely. I do know that some advertisements use the opposite sex to appeal to the audience. They also use the rags to riches stories, they use the method of physiologically making some one think that they absolutely need what they are promoting. I also know that advertising has been around for a long time, but it was not as flamboyant as it is now. Advertisements were not everywhere and they were more conservative. Right now, with just the little information I have, I know that advertisement's impact young adults by having them reflect on their own body image, by putting people into certain stereotypes and by grabbing their emotions. Sometimes people can really relate to a certain advertisement causing them to want to get the product or service.  Advertiser's use celebrities, brand names, sexiness, and lifestyles.

I still need to research more on the history of advertising. When it began to bloom, what were they advertising and to who the most. I want to know more methods specifically and find examples. I want to find out what method works the best. I want to find some positive and some negative outcomes of advertising. Reading some research on some of the affects advertising has on Americans as a whole. I just changed my topic, so I'm jumping around with different ideas but this is an overall picture of what I would like to write my essay on.
